Geocache Description:

A simple cache located in close vicinity of the Miorita Fountain.

Miorita Fountain was designed by a famous architect, Octav Doicescu. The mosaics by M. Petrascu illustrate an amazing popular ballad named "Miorita" - "The little sheep". It's a fantastic story about three shepherds. Two of them plan to kill the third one in order to steel his fortune. A magic sheep hears the plot and reveals the whole story to the potential victim. Instead of building his defence plan, the third shepherd simply gives up the fight. His reasons seem unbelievable: he speaks about the infinite nature of the Universe, about the meaningless nature of life and death. He perceives the death as a mystical marriage, as a reintegration into Mother Nature. It's a strange, extremely old story; maybe older than the Romanian people and probably older than Christianity. Some people consider that the calm attitude of the third shepherd tells something about the humble nature of all Romanians, about the fact that they almost never tried to build great empires or to do any magnificent thing. But after all one should admit that the shepherd is somehow right, that he understood - a few thousand years ago - the drama of our existence. And his story represents one of the most amazing myths of the Romanians. The cache is located in the close vicinity of the fountain.
