Geocache Description:

Located off to the side of a dead end highway. Approximately 50 paces away from the road.

The cache gets its name from Gordon Lightfoots song "Carefree Highway". The song is originally from Lightfoots album "Sundown".

Sundown is Gordon Lightfoot's 10th original album, released in 1974 on the Reprise Records label. The album reached #1 on the pop chart, the first and only of Lightfoot's albums to achieve this.

The album marked the pinnacle of Lightfoot's acoustic folk-country blend before he embarked on an increasing use of electronic instruments, although Lightfoot did include some electric guitar, notably on the title track.

As for singles, the title track reached #1 on the pop and adult contemporary charts as well as #13 on the country chart, while "Carefree Highway" reached #10 on the pop chart, #1 on the adult contemporary chart and #81 on the country chart.

I plan to name all my caches after this great Canadian icon, so long as the area remotely resembles the text of the song.

The cache is a medium sized lock and lock container that is covered in camo tape. It is 6' off the ground. It is hanging off the branch of a balsam tree. The tree is approximately 1 1/2 feet in diameter. A very easy find.
