Wasn't Saved By The Bell Traditional Cache
BigBadger & Li'l SG: A shame. Someone took the entire piece of artwork and nothing remains but the base. Cache parts were left out in the open... no remnants of any fire as per previous logs. But time to remove what was left.

Cache is a small painted Ln'L with a few little trinkets. This will be easy to find but please ensure you replace it adequately so that it is not easily seen.
Unfortunately this property will eventually be sold and redeveloped into some big monster cash grab. UVic just couldn't afford to maintain it to the level it needs. It really is a cool property with a very interesting history. While you are up here take a moment to look around at the pond and the building.
Dunsmuir Lodge started out it's life in 1973 as Gillain Manor, a treatment Centre for people known as 'Executive Alcoholics'. It's life as a Alcoholism rehabilitation centre lasted less than a decade. At that time treatment costs were a whopping $175 per person! They closed around 1980-ish and the building sat vacant for about 5 years.
George Poole of Poole Construction had bought the facility and in 1985 donated it to UVic. The University had utilized the building as a Conference Centre and an executive training centre as well as operating a wonderful fine dining place for the general public. At its peak the building was hosting about 50,000 people per year and was actually covering its own costs.
Dunsmuir Lodge was eventually shut down on March 31, 2009 because the University apparently would not justify a diversion of $2 million from its program costs towards upgrading the building for the future and is awaiting sale.
