Geocache Description:

Cacheport #140

In the spirit of many other great group hikes, please join fellow geocachers in this hike from Chippawa to Niagara-on-the-Lake which will cover approximately half the distance in the Fort-to-Fort Hike along the Niagara Parkway. This hike covers the Northern section. Please gather at the posted coordinates which are those of the King's Bridge Park parking lot in Chippawa. We will be heading out from this point at 9am on Sunday May 1st. For those interested in setting up a shuttle for cars, there is a large lot at Fort George where one car can be left while another drives to Chippawa. Arrive between 7:30 and 8:00 at the provided parking in Niagara-on-the-Lake to leave enough time to drive to Chippawa, and this location might be of value to some.

It would be best to dress for a cool walk as May can be a bit brisk and the Niagara Parkway is both open and near water. The path itself is all paved and can be done with regular walking shoes and is stroller and wheelchair compliant. During the hike we will be passing many historic locations from the War of 1812, Canadian National and Provincial Historic Sites and the Underground Railroad.

In general, the pace of the hike is leisurely and should take between 8 to 9 hours as a guess. Those that would rather not hike the entire section in one outing are certainly welcome to join us at Chippawa in order to claim attendance at the event. Participating in the hike is optional.

When logging your "Will Attend" please indicate if you would like to go for dinner after the hike. Arrangements have been made for a restaurant in Chippawa. We will be going to "The Boat House" at 3807 Macklem St. They have ample parking and room for us and are expecting our group sometime between 5pm and 6pm. The location of the restaurant will be added as a waypoint soon. They also have a website for more details if you choose to look it up.

Rain Date will be May 8th if we get rained out. I will post before 7am on hike day whether the hike is still a go or will be postponed. A light mist is not enough to cancel it but raining will be.

If you are working towards completing your Cacheport, be sure to find me to have your cancellation performed. This will only be done at the event.

Guest Reviewer - Reviewer Jones : One time I described this reviewer as someone who tells a great story but we have never actually spoken to each other. Extremely witty and sly of speech, this charismatic reviewer is just a hoot to be around.

The Cacheport Series: This is cache #140 - Please make sure that you perform your cancellation with your Cacheport book, if you are participating in this optional activity.
