This cache has been archived.

West Texas Reviewer: Cache Owner (CO) has not responded, so the cache is being archived to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking new cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace this cache sometime in the future (not to exceed 15 days from the date of this entry), just contact me (by e-mail), and assuming it still meets the current Guidelines, I will consider unarchiving this cache.

Please be advised this is not a guarantee that this geocache will be unarchived. Many factors will go into my decision. The most important of which is how you responded to geocachers who tried to communicate with you regarding the problem(s) with this geocache hide and how you communicated with me, the West Texas Reviewer.

Geocache Description:

You’re looking for a slightly-camo’d match tube, brown, that may or may not stick out like a sore thumb in the spring, or float away in a heavy rain. I would not be surprised in either case. In fact, if this cache lasts more than six months, I would be surprised. However, a cache should be here, and I’ve seen SO many caches like this WORK, that I just HAD to test the waters myself.

Henry and Emerson Colleges, in Campbell, were the foundation of education for a number of generations in the late 1800s. The founder of Henry College was um…he was um…nah I’m just kidding. I know nothing about the college. All I know is what’s on the marker, and here it is:

----------------------------------------------------

SITE OF
HENRY AND EMERSON COLLEGES

PROMINENT EARLY INSTITUTIONS.
HENRY COLLEGE, FOUNDED IN 1892
BY EDUCATORS HENRY BRIDGES AND
HENRY EASTMAN, WAS RE-ESTABLISHED
AND RENAMED IN 1903 FOR WRITER
RALPH WALDO EMERSON. CLOSED 1907.
OTHER EARLY COLLEGES IN HUNT
COUNTY WERE CALHOUN (1887-1899),
TEXAS HOLINESS (1899-1920), THE
ELMWOOD INSTITUTE (1898-1906),
BURLESON (1895-1931), AND WESLEY
