This cache is located within the approx 1300 ha of the Nonquon
Provincial Wildlife Area just north of the town of Port Perry. This
wetland was formed 15 000 years ago, and carved out of the
surrounding land by huge volumes of water flowing off the melting
glacier. The resulting, poorly drained flat land, developed into an
extremely productive and diverse Class One Wetland, consisting of
numerous marshes, swamps and fens. Through this area runs the muddy
waters of the Nonquon River, on its way to Lake Scugog. Blah, blah,
blah...
During hunting season it's best to wear bright orange. Parking is
located at the trailhead which is marked by the roadside memorial
for Scott Foster (R.I.P.). Co-ordinates are N 44 07.132 W078
58.988. When you go in just be on the lookout for a small game
trail on the left side of the main trail. If you miss this you
might have to bushwack yourself to the cache and this for sure
would raise the difficulty rating somewhat :) Inside the cache
you'll find 3 business card sized "FTF Certificates" Why not, I
thought they were neat.
