This is the second instalment in the Shape series. Last time we
looked at what replaced the old Lady Bay Hotel - this time it's the
turn of the old Warrnambool Woollen Mill.

still-standing Mill only; there is no cache there.
Although operational in the latter half of the 19th century, the
Mill was destroyed by fire in 1882 and lay unused for nearly 30
years. In November 1910, it was reopened and continued to prosper
right up until the early 1980s.
By the early 1990s, the Mill's future was looking extremely
bleak, and in 1994, then-operators Macquarie Group announced the
Mill's closure. Charity group The Smith Family stepped in and ran
the operation for another six years, but in July 2000, after 90
years of steady operation, the Mill was closed for good. The site
was sold in 2003 to private developers.
