The yellow town
The chinese city is a little village at the end of
Otto Busses Vej in the middle of Copenhagen, with small yellow
townhouses. This is the railway counterpart to the Navys
historic sailors houses of Nyboder. The village is commonly known
as the chinese city due to the ncolour of the houses. This little
idyllic oasis is situated completely hidden and isolated from the
rest of Copenhagen. Some residents has lived there for 50
years.
There are 33 leases in the yellow town. Hundreds of railway
workers and their familys, has lived here since the houses was
built in 1909 by DSB as housing for the workers manning the train,
which helped at accidents. They were to be able to leave quickly,
in case of derailments or other acidents.
