Geocache Description:

Another in the XC and TK's
Tongariro Cache series.

Another prize for the tramping cachers who do the Tongariro
Crossing. This time you are tempted off the main route and on a
side track to Soda Springs.

At the base of the Devils Staircase is the last toilet stop before
the Ketetahi Hut. You will see a sign showing the side track to Soda Springs. It is only 300 odd metres.

The closer you get to the waterfall along and over the stream you will see strange colours in the stream and likely smell the sulphurous smell from the gas eminating from the hillside above the falls.


Nice Spot

The cache is a small plastic tube inside a TechnoKitten Camo Bag with log and small gel pen but take your own. Room for very small swaps or GC's only.

This crossing is a very popular tramp for many muggles so
stealth might be necessary.

Please replace the cache securely.
