Geocache Description:

THIS CACHE IS NOT AT THE LISTED COORDINATES

This and its companion cache are located along the multi-use trails in Wildwood. It requires about a 1/4 mile (one-way) walk from parking (provided coordinates). Do not cut through private property to access the trail. The cache is located near the paved path. Thanks to Kathy Arnett, City of Wildwood, for permission to place this cache!

This cache is placed to remember the first decade of caching, and that almost one million caches have been placed worldwide!

To calculate the coordinates of the cache location you must identify the coordinates of the first ever geocache and the oldest active geocache. Take a few minutes to learn about these caches. Also indicate in your log if you have visited one of the locations.

Use the degree and minute portions of the listed coordinates. For the decimal portions make the following substitutions. Substitute the decimal portion of the north coordinate with the decimal portion of the north coordinate of the first ever geocache plus .073; substitute the decimal portion of the west coordinate with the decimal portion of the west coordinate of the oldest active geocache plus .098.

Finding the physical cache and the required math to obtain the coordinates of the final are not intended to be difficult. Hopefully this cache will provide you with a little bit of caching “history.”
