Geocache Description:

To find this one follow road signs from Kawhia town to Ocean Beach. Take the sandy track to the beach, at the top head off track. Protective clothing is recommended - you will have to push through cutty grass.

Te Puia hot springs are a popular attraction between an hour or so before and after low tide. The car park is on the edge of the forest and the track over to the beach is obvious from there. The top is probably the best place to start for the cache. To bathe - on the beach, walk around on the wet sand until you find a hot spot and then dig a bath and have a soak. In the summer it can be really popular. However on one occasion when the beach had been scoured out after a storm the hot patches weren't exposed so we couldn't bathe.
