This 2,500-acre park includes all of the elements of a coastal
landscape, from sandy beach and saltwater marsh to freshwater
lagoon and maritime forest. These natural features support such an
amazing variety of wildlife that birdwatchers have recorded nearly
400 species here. It has also been named as one of the best birding
sites along the East Coast.
Visitors can enjoy the beach, a 186-site campground, boardwalks
and observation decks overlooking the marsh and lagoon, picnic
areas, fishing, crabbing, hiking, daily educational programs as
well as the impressive historic mansion at the coordinates
above.
Be sure to visit the boardwalk as well as the hiking trails and
lookouts along the way. There is a fee to enter the park and it
closes at 9pm. To log your find, send an email with the last year
the structure was used by its owners.
