A good walk to the top of Creuch hill.
It’s rumoured that the remains near the top are of an old fort and in truth it’s not the sort of place to build a croft. It may just be an old sheep pen - but why would you build it at the top of a hill?? - who knows.
The trig. point at the top of the hill has been all but destroyed, (which must have taken someone a considerable amount of effort!!), but, from the remains, you do know that you are at the top. The cache is located at the remains of whatever the building was which is a short distance from the trig. point.
Park at N55 52.328 W 004 47.761. Follow the path to the gate. Through the gate and then over the, Heath Robinson), bridge. Head for the top. The ground is open moor and is quite hard going with plenty of drainage ditches and is a bit boggy on the lower slope. Good footwear and kit is recommended. On a good day there are great views from the top. Keep going a bit further on the other side and your onto Duchal moor.
