I luoghi di Pinocchio - Castello
Carlo Lorenzini, detto Collodi, negli anni in cui scrisse “Le avventure di Pinocchio” risiedeva presso Villa Il Bel Riposo a Castello presso Firenze e, come testimoniano vari studi condotti nel tempo, trovò ispirazione per il suo capolavoro in persone, fatti e soprattutto luoghi con cui ebbe modo di venire a contatto proprio a Castello e nei vicini borghi di Peretola e Sesto Fiorentino.
A questi luoghi i comuni di Firenze e Sesto Fiorentino hanno dedicato un percorso segnaletico che si snoda in tre itinerari, questo multicache intende farvi percorrere il primo dei 3 itinerari, quello appunto di Castello. In ogni punto troverete uno dei cartelli segnaletici contraddistinti dal lungo naso di pinocchio con una citazione del libro e la descrizione delle “tracce di Pinocchio” relative a quel luogo.
E’ consigliato percorrere i vari stadi del muticache a piedi, un’ora di tempo dovrebbe essere sufficiente. Con una piccola deviazione lungo il percorso potete anche raggiungere il cache “Pinocchio” del “Maestro” Vericol!
Stage 1: La bottega di Mastro Ciliegia N43 48.8528 E011 13.8060
In passato la manutenzione delle ville richiedeva artigiani e pare che in questa via ve ne fossero addirittura due, I’Didda e I’Nappa, così chiamato per il suo gran naso sempre rosso perché gli piaceva bere il vino e che quindi ispirò il personaggio di Mastro Ciliegia.
Nella scritta in basso sul cartello trovate un numero, chiamatelo ABCD (A+B+C+D=13)
Percorrendo la via petraia verso monte prima di imboccare la strada a sinistra che vi porta allo stage 2 potete fermarvi ad ammirare la Villa Corsini, recentemente restaurata e di fronte ad essa Vila Il Bel Riposo, dove Collodi risiedeva e dove era di casa anche Giovanna Ragionieri che, bambina dai capelli biondi e occhi turchini, ispirò la Fata dai capelli turchini.
Stage 2: La quercia grande N43 49.0480 E011 13.8940
Fino alla seconda guerra mondiale al civico 44 di questa via si trovava una grande quercia cui Collodi immaginò Pinocchio impiccato dagli assassini.
Cercate nelle vicinanze del cartello la scritta “Villa Bianca” e chiamate il numero civico sottostante EF (E+F=12)
Adesso potete riprendere la Via di Castello, che avete già percorso dalla Villa Corsini, e percorrerla ulteriormente fino alla “Villa Reale” (se il giardino è aperto ammiratelo, fu fonte d’ispirazione per la Venere di Botticelli) e quindi percorrere verso sud il viale alberato detto “Il Viottolone” ed oggi intitolato al poeta Mario Luzi, per raggiungere lo Stage 3.
Stage 3: La scuola N43 49.0225 E011 13.5439
Qui ai tempi di Collodi si trovava la scuola comunale (del Comune di Sesto Fiorentino di cui Castello allora faceva parte) che fu frequentata anche dal poeta Mario Luzi e che nel 1927 fu trasferita presso la Villa Reale.
Sul cartello trovate dei numeri, chiamateli GHJK-LM (G+H+J+K+L+M=21)
Oggi i bambini di Castello (compresi i miei!) vanno a scuola in Via del Pontormo che collega Via di Castello a Via R. Giuliani e che troverete alla vostra sinistra (accesso pedonale) se ora riprenderete Via R.Giuliani percorrendola verso Firenze per raggiungere lo stage 4.
Stage 4: La strada del paese N43 48.9010 E011 13.7335
Qui vi trovate all’angolo con Via Di Collodi che un tempo insieme all’altro spezzone oltre la ferrovia denominato oggi Via Carlo Lorenzini formava la Via Arta e su cui si trovava un antico casolare simile alla descrizione della casa di Geppetto
Guardando il cartello troverete a destra un numero civico rosso, chiamatelo NPR (N+P+R=10)

Ora potete raggiungere il cache che è ubicato in una tranquilla stradina, spero che il giro per Castello e i suoi luoghi di Pinocchio vi sia piaciuto! Un’altra attrattiva di questi luoghi è la Villa Petraia (in cima all’omonima via dello stage 1) che fu residenza reale quando Firenze era capitale d’Italia e Collodi ideava il suo Pinocchio!
Places of Pinocchio - Castello
Carlo Lorenzini also named “Collodi”, in the years he wrote "The Adventures of Pinocchio" resided at Villa Il Bel Riposo in Castello, near Florence, and, as shown by various studies over time, he found inspiration for his masterpiece in people, events and places which he was able to come into contact with in Castello and in the nearby villages and Peretola Sesto Fiorentino.
In these places the towns of Florence and Sesto Fiorentino made a signaling path formed by three itineraries. This multicache has its stages along the first of the 3 routes, in Castello.
At any stage you will find one of the signs marked with the long nose of Pinocchio with a quotation from the book and the description of the "traces of Pinocchio" in that place.
It is nice to make the muticache walking, you can do it in around one hour. With a little detour along the way, you can also access the cache "Pinocchio" by Vericol!
Stage 1: The “Mastro Cherry” workshop N43 48.8528 E011 13.8060
In the past, artisans were requested for maintenance of the villas and it seems that in this way there were even two, “I'Didda” and “I'Nappa” (I’ Nappa is a Florentine idiomatic way of saying “The one with the big nose”), named for his big nose always red because he liked to drink wine and that inspired the character of Mastro Cherry.
At the bottom of the sign you find a number, call it ABCD (A + B + C + D = 13)
Walk up the way and before going to the road on the left that takes you to the Stage 2 you can stop to admire the Villa Corsini, recently restored and in front of it Vila Il Bel Riposo, where Collodi resided and where lived also Giovanna Ragionieri a blond hair and azure eyes girl who inspired the Lovely Maiden with Azure Hair
Stage 2: The Great Oak N43 49.0480 E011 13.8940
Until the Second World War at number 44 on this street stood a large oak tree to which Collodi imagined Pinocchio hanged from murderers.
Search near the sign a plaque "Villa Bianca" and call the civic number below it EF (E + F = 12)
Now you can take the Via di Castello, that you have already walked from the Villa Corsini, and go further until the "Villa Reale" (if the garden is open admire it, it was a source of inspiration for Botticelli's Venus), then walk southward along the tree-lined avenue called "The Viottolone" and now dedicated to the Florentine poet Mario Luzi to achieve the Stage 3.
Stage 3: The school N43 49.0225 E011 13.5439
When Collodi lived here in this way was the school which was attended also by the poet Mario Luzi. Next in 1927 the school was transferred to the Villa Reale building.
On the sign you find the numbers GHIK-LM (G + H + J + K + L + M = 21)

Today children of Castello (mine too!) go to school in “Via del Pontormo” (a street connecting Via di Castello and Via R. Giuliani you will see on your left (pedestrian access) if now you walk Via R. Giuliani towards Florence to reach the stage 4.
Stage 4: The road of the village N43 48.9010 E011 13.7335
Here you are at the corner between Via R. Giuliani and Via Collodi that once was joined with Via Carlo Lorenzini over the railroad and was named Arta. In Arta stood an old cottage like the description of the house of Geppetto
On the right of the sign you will see a red civic number, call it NPR (N + P + R = 10)
Now calculate:

Now you can reach the cache that is located in a quiet street, I hope that you enjoyed walking in Castello looking at the places of Pinocchio.
Another attraction of these places is Villa Petraia (top of the street of the Stage 1) which was the royal residence when Florence was the capital of Italy and Collodi imagined his Pinocchio!
