This cache is on the foreshore and may not be reachable at high tide. There is no parking near to the cache, but it is a plesent walk of less than 1km from the parking co-ords. From the parking, walk past Penpol Boatyard and follow this byway, taking a right at the fork and then down hill to a footpath sign on your right. Take this footpath infront of Carnon Yard cottage - see photo - and follow it down to the foreshore and the cache.
Carnon yard was formerly known as Carnon Mine after the workings here and at the Minebank in the centre of the creek that was in opperation between 1830 and 1843. Later this shoreline area was operated as a boatyard by "Ferris & Stevens" where many ships were built here including the " Rhoda Mary " in 1868 who weighed in at 130 tons - see photo - Minor boat repairs were being carried out on Yard beach at least upto the early 1980s.
