This is a multi-stage adventure that will take you really close to the beast-filled black lakes that are scattered across Mill Hill. During the wet months, the lakes overflow with water and the Watchers awake and wait patiently to feast on mammals that get too close.
Your adventure begins at the posted coordinates which take you to the parking lot.
- Your first task is to travel the Calypso Trail to the summit.
- At the summit, locate the sacrificial alter that has a compass looking disk on its surface
- From this alter, you will proceed carefully to the first of the black lakes. Proceed 131 meters at a bearing of 50 degrees TRUE. When you see the lake (or a depression where a lake should be), you must now locate an orange flag somewhere around this tiny lake. Be very careful not be eaten by the Watcher.
- From this flag, proceed towards the second of the black lakes which you will find approximately 154 meters away at a bearing of 17 degrees TRUE. Here you will find the second of the black lakes (or a depression where a lake should be). Again, locate the orange flag somewhere around this lake. Be wary of the water creatures.
- If you are still alive by this point, you can proceed to the last of the black lakes. This final lake contains the largest of the Watchers and it has hidden a special treasure somewhere close. Proceed 377 meters at 332 degrees TRUE. Again, you must look around for an orange/red flag somewhere near the closest water source. Once you spot the flag, walk down to it before doing your final projection.
- Standing at this last flag, you will be able to find the creature's hidden treasure only 89 meters away at a bearing of 355 degrees TRUE.
None of these stages are overly difficult and shouldn't take you too long to sight - just keep looking. All stages are located just off major trails so bushwhacking should be kept to a minimum. If you are in the brush, you are off track.
Good luck and enjoy the adventure and make sure you avoid the Watchers in the Water.
Please DO NOT attempt this cache at night as the terrain can be dangerous. Estimate 2 hours to complete.
It is not possible to find the final without doing the work as simply projecting manually doesn't get you to the final.
