Geocache Description:

The published coordinates are NOT for the cache, so please ignore. The true coordinates can be found in the other Bexhill Smugglers caches. The cache is a circular green pot hidden in woodland down an unadopted road.

Well done for finding the clues that lead you here. I hope you enjoyed following the story of the Battle of Sidley Green.

The coordinates of this cache can be found very easily:

The Northings are in the odd numbered Bexhill Smugglers caches.

The eastings are in the even numbered Bexhill Smugglers caches.

WHEELCHAIR: Apologies: the final cache site is in a wooded area, difficult for wheelchairs.

To find the cache, leave Sidley village via Glovers Lane, bearing left into Buckholt Lane.

The walk down Buckholt Lane is a delight in the spring and summer. The farm fields are used to graze horses or livestock with hay crops in the summer. Private woodland on the left of the lane belongs to Acton Farm. The under-developed nature of the area makes it a haven for wildlife and a favoured spot for bird watchers. A stream gurgles along for most of the way down the lane. Wellies are advisable if it's at all wet underfoot.

There is very limited parking in Buckholt Lane and you may be advised to leave your car in Glovers Lane and walk. It's 1/2 mile / 15 minutes walk from Glovers Lane to the Booty.

Walking is preferable to driving. Buckholt Lane starts out as a single track tarmacked road but the tarmac quickly ends and the unadopted road that follows is pothole heaven. Some of the potholes are substantial and deep. The lane is well used - especially by those accessing the stables, kennels, or the 2 farms - but I wouldn't recommend you take your car down there unless it's a tough beast.

There is space to park at the start of the lane before the tarmacked road ends, but it's only for 3 vehicles and the only parking for retirement flats, so would not be recommended out of consideration to the residents.

If you do take your car down the lane, the road eventually splits: carrying on (to Acton Farm- private) and bending right (to Buckholt Kennels). Bear right. On your immediate right, a former entrance to the field is now fenced off and you can park there without blocking access.

The cache is accessible at night but I haven't recommended it for night-time as the potholes make the access road a nightmare in the dark. GPS jumped significantly in the area. Clue is therefore more detailed.
