Welcome to the precise and historic location of the Adrian City Brewery. The proprietor of this late 1800’s brewery was E. Fischer & Company. Their local competitor was the Union Brewery. The Union Brewery was owned by R. A. Kaiser and located nearby on North Main and Toledo Street.
A little known fact is that Fischer and Kaiser got together and built the brand new Springbrook Brewery on the old Fischer (City Brewery) site in 1903. It was four stories high and had capacity to make 25,000 barrels of beer per year.
1904 brought on the temperance movement threatening this brand new brewery. The “wet” lobby held off the “dry” lobby until 1910 and that ended the brewery and saloon business in Adrian. The "dry" group, called the "Anti-Saloon League" won another one!
To be successful, you should observe the “new” medical suite located where the historic Adrian City and Springbrook Breweries once stood. If you desire to assist in a quick (brewery?) autopsy, step in.
Note the three prominent black numerals displayed on the front of this suite and add them to the following North and West coordinates, in the form (.XXX).
N 41 53.960 W 084 02.393
Have fun and bring a pencil.
