This is our first cache that we have placed. The location of the cache offers a great view of the Halifax Harbour and Purcell's Cove. It is an old quarry once used to build the Halifax Citadel and is now a large rocky outcrop beside a small pond. The route to the cache is a short bushwhack off of Bluestone Road and the cache would not be visible in deep snow.
There is parking on Bluestone road @ N 44'36.863' W 063'34.594'. It is not necessary to climb the steep rock face, the best route to take, is to stay to the right of the pond. A short distance of bushwhacking is necessary to arrive at the cache location. The cache is an ammo box protected from the rain, although it may not be easily accessed in deep snow.
This is a very picturesque location. In the winter, the small pond is used for skating by the local people and during the summer evenings, the large rock would be a great place to watch the Wednesday night sail or the sun setting over the horizon.
