Balsom park is located down beside the Waiwakaiho River.
Up until the late 50's, early 60's rock was quarried from this site.
There are a number of concrete walls, pits and grates left from this era, all in various states of dis-repair.
The park is full of interesting trees many of which are coniferous.
The cache is located on the reserve land, which is also a working farm, so stock may be present. Accordingly, leave all gates as you find them.
There is an area to park at the end of the Williams Street.
