Takijiri-oji is one of the Five ojis that are accorded particular reverence among the 99 Kumano ojis. As the entrance to the sacred ground of Kumano it is a place of great importance.Above that there is a cavern known as ""Chichi-iwa"", which is the subject of a local legend.
