Geocache Description:

A cache hidden in the West to mark our first twelve months of geocaching.

We found our first cache on New Year’s Day 2009. We soon found ourselves addicted, and twelve months later we spent New Year’s Eve on a numbers run in the Waikato to achieve our 1200th cache.

We are placing this cache as a celebration of the completion of our first caching year, and as a token of thanks to all those whose caches we have found.

We have had a lot of fun this year, and enjoyed a great variety of caches – puzzles, earthcaches, great camo, clever hides, high terrain walks, and of course the First to Find hunts. We have enjoyed meeting other cachers, often late at night, and have attended some very enjoyable event caches.

This cache is in a reserve on the banks of the Huruhuru Creek in West Auckland. At present there are comparatively few caches in the West, and we will be doing our bit to rectify this.

The cache is a small camoed V bottle, which seems very appropriate considering the contribution this product has made to keeping Mark awake on some of our crazier late night caching adventures. It contains a logbook and pencil only. Sorry, no room for trackables. Please replace firmly so it wont fall from its V.
There is no need to go onto the stream side of the paperbark tree.

We have added parking co-ordinates for the nicer way to the cache, in response to those who have taken the less appealing northern approach. The area looks best of all at high tide.
