Encouraged by local Quakers, free Blacks and escaped slaves fled persecution in the United States and found homes in the Otterville area beginning in 1829. These skilled trades people made significant contributions to local development.
This Cache is located on one of the few preserved Black pioneer historical resting places in Ontario.
Cache includes a lectural medallion, pencil, eraser and log book with some smaller other items. It is a small butter container covered in black tape.
