This is the first cache we've hidden with the help of our new rescue puppy, Charley. Her picture is inside the cache.
This cache is hidden along a recently-completed section of the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway which connects Liberty State Park with the Port Liberte community.
The half-mile scenic walk juxtaposes luxury development with natural beauty. On your right, you’ll pass the sixty-million-dollar clubhouse for the Liberty National Golf Course; on the left will be wetlands and a bird sanctuary, which is open to exploration except during nesting season. We’ve seen several egrets looking for lunch in the tidal marshes.
The cache is a magnetic keyholder. It is accessible without crossing any railings, fences, or other barricades – please be respectful of the bird habitat and the golf course. Please bring your own pencil.
Note -- The nearest parking lot (N 40 41.844, W 074 03.894) is in an area used as a boat launch. While we’ve never had any problem parking our car there, we recently noticed a metering machine which requires a $15 fee for boat owners. If you don’t want to take your chances, there is more parking available a few hundred feet southeast along the waterfront.
