Geocache Description:

A short walk from the free car park at Overscourt Woods, Siston, to the cache which is a little over a half mile away and close to the golf course. The route is along paths through fields and in the woods, and can get a little muddy at certain times of the year. The cache is near water but there is no need to get your feet wet. Young children should, however, be supervised when retrieving the cache. The route is suitable for families but not buggies or bikes.

This used to form part of a multicache called "Shortwood Tracks" but there were problems with landowners and rights of way. The location of the cache is unchanged (aside from a short move when the original when missing) and easily is reached with a straightforward ramble in and around Forestry Commission land.

It will take about 30-45 minutes for a round trip (about 1 1/4 miles in total) if you follow the suggested route below. There are other paths that lead to the cache but the ones through the golf course are best avoided (they are very hard to follow).

The best starting location is the car park for Overscourt Wood where it is free to park. Please note that the gate for the car park is locked at 7pm. The car park is at:
N 51 28.308
W 002 27.067

From the car park, carefully cross the road, go into the Woods through the gate and follow the path to the right to cross the stream using the pedestrian bridge (at N 51 28.357, W 002 27.147). From there you can bear left and follow the path towards the cache which is now about half a mile away.

On the way back - and for a round trip - follow the path uphill from the cache to enter the woods (at N 51 28.435, W 002 27.563)

From there, follow the path towards St. Anne's church, Siston, bearing right (at N 51 28.425, W 002 27.207) just before you reach the gate and the road, taking you back to the pedestrian bridge.
