Geocache Description:


The cache is near swings of 2 types; 1 meant to keep you dry the others to take a plunge!


You will have to make your way along the Hatea River track for 15-20 minutes, about midway between AH Reed Memorial Park and Whangarei Falls. Take your pick which side to enter or walk the whole circuit to find several other caches along the way.

The Hatea Walkway Swing Bridge was only opened 1 weekend before it was demolished in a one-in-150-year torrent , March 2007. It was re-engineered (higher!) and rebuilt, enabling people to walk from the Town Basin all the way to the top of Whangarei Falls in Tikipunga.

There are several deep pools and tree swings along the river, popular for cooling off in the summer heat.
