Throop University Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

CraigsOutside: This one has had a good long run. However, there have also been plenty of problems with sat reception and missing containers. It's time to pull the plug and let this location open up to something new. Thanks to all who came to find Throop U.

Geocache Description:

Just a little cache hide in a nice quiet part of Cal Tech's (originally founded as Throop University), Tournament Park. If you haven't yet done so, seek out the Tournament Park Virtual cache to learn some of the park history.

I found this spot after seeking out the Tournament Park Virtual cache and thought that Cal Tech just didn't have enough geocaches since it is so closely connected to our "sport." This is a nice shady spot to visit and sit while contemplating one's navel or the nature of the decaying universe if you get stumped. Come to find out, the campus building just north of the hide is the IPAC (Infrared Processing and Analysis Center), run by Cal Tech for NASA and JPL. Check out the IPAC website for some interesting info: www.ipac.caltech.edu

The park hours are posted as being open from 8am to dusk (730pm in the Summer).

This container begins life with 2 pencils, a log sheet, 2 spare ziploc bags for someone to perform maintenance on a needy cache, a 10 karush Turkish coin, a wolf pin, and a keychain whistle.

I do take pride in all of my hides. If there are any issues with this cache or it is in need of maintenance, please do let me know. When logging your find, please do not use stickers out of consideration for others; they simply take up too much space and make log sheets difficult to fold or roll up. Please hide the container at least as well as you found it.

Congratulations to annita on the FTF!
