Geocache Description:

Backney Bridge is a secluded picnic site sitting next to the River Wye. This is suitable as a cache and dash, or can be taken as nice walk. The area has a car park and several short, but steep steps as you climb towards the bridge. The cache is placed at the top of the embankment where the bridge should be! The terrain can be a little slippy and there is a river and stream near by, so keep an eye on the younglings.

Backney Bridge was once one of the crossings of the River Wye used by the old Hereford to Gloucester railway line. The line was built in 1855, and was closed in the 1960's.
The site is currently used as a picnic site with easy access from the A49. The lanes in the area are single track, so please drive slowly if you choose to use the car to find the cache.
Please note the gates to the site are closed at dusk, so this one may not be good for night caching!
The cache location is at the top of the picnic site at the place where you can enjoy the view out over the old bridge. Hopefully my coordinates are accurate, but in any case I have photos giving the cache location. The cache is just through the bars so be careful of the brambles, they shouldnt be a problem.
The cache itself is a one litre cliptop box containing a logbook and pen, with plenty of room for swaps and trackables.

First to find Thomastucker!
