This cache is placed in honour of all the volunteers that help make competitive swimming in Manitoba successful. To run a swim club and/or a swim meet requires many volunteers. At a typical swim meet, for example, close to forty volunteers are required for timing, stroke & turn judging, electronics operations, chief timer, chief stroke & turn, chief finishing, starter, referee, meet management and hospitality. In honour of these dedicated volunteers please join a geocaching swimming pentathlon.

Five caches have been placed near popular swimming pools in Winnipeg. Each cache represents one event in the pentathlon (200 Freestyle, 200 Backstroke, 200 Breaststroke, 200 Butterfly & 200 Individual Medley). As the events get more difficult (as determined by my kids), the caches get more difficult (although none are particularly hard).

First second and third place (FTF, STF, TTF) in each event (cache) will be awarded gold, silver and bronze placing. As with standard swimming scoring, gold placement is worth 5 points, silver placement is worth 2 points and bronze placement is worth 1 point. Points will then be summed to determine the gold, silver and bronze placement for the overall pentathlon winners. No real medals will be awarded.

Swimmers, take your mark....beep!
