Star Wars Tribute: Rebel Transport Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

SeriousTool: Unlike the end of Return of the Jedi, in which the Empire falls to the Rebel Alliance and the good powers of THE FORCE, this power-run has fallen to the Dark Side of the force consisting of the Federal Government and their gating off of a PUBLIC road which contained over half of the caches in this series.

Also, the Maine State Caching Police of GeocachingMaine.org ( ie The Geo-Gestapo) have made me reconsider my motives and enjoyment of caching.

It was fun while it lasted, and I believe that it has put coastal York County on the map for quality and quantity caching runs. As of now, even without the series, a cacher can come to the area and get between 150 and 200 caches in one day. That is still unheard of outside of Ekidokai's masterpiece to the north.

Cache on!

Geocache Description:

Experimental cache series. The GR-75 medium transport, or Gallofree medium transport, was a clamshell-hulled transport produced by Gallofree Yards, Inc. This ship was featured in the Empire Strikes Back, in the scenes involving the Rebel's escape from the frozen planet of Hoth.

Placed in true "Stud Mill Road" fashion in West Kennebunk, Maine. The series will eventually encompass many more similarly placed and configured caches in area enabling cachers to find a maximum amount of finds in a minimum amount of time.

Some of the series are located on a road which is a Class 6 public road meaning they are not maintained, and not plowed. Good for 4wd vehicles, and some 2wd vehicles in the summer. Winter time make sure your vehicle is capable. If not, snow shoes and/or winter gear are needed.

Cache is a micro containing log only. BYOP and replace as found.

Interesting side note concerning this cache:

Power cacher Mscrep told me that he was disappointed that I did not have a tribute to the Rebel Transport. I can't believe I over looked this important star ship in my initial cache placements in the series. I myself have a vintage Hasbro Rebel Transport from the early 1980s that was given to me by Santa Claus one Christmas. I asked my parents recently why they gave me this ugly utilitarian, and boring ship instead of a snazzy X-Wing Fighter, or Millennium Falcon. My father's response.... it was cheaper than the others.
