Geocache Description:

On a clear day you can see ... carbon

In October, 2008, a fire began at one of the campgrounds on Angel Island, though the Marin County Fire Department had a pre-planned system to tackle the fire, it spread to about half of the island's 740 acres before it was out, with several other bay fire departments helping out.

After a year and rains it's greening up and slowly filling in where the fire consumed chaparral, trees, downed wood, leaves, etc. This barren stretch will take years to replace the trees which are gone.

Practice fire safety. As Smoky says, "Remember, only you can prevent forest fires."

The cache is a small container, holding a logbook, pen, a few swag items and a newly launched travel bug.
