This cache is located on a very pristine and secluded Península in the dry forest known as Punta Brea in Guánica municipality. This cache is intended to be searched by bike of any kind, but a Mountain Bike is preferred and you can reach the GZ easily. Do not be discouraged if you do not have a bike, you can follow the trail by foot and enjoy the magnificent view of this exceptional coast. The trail length to the GZ is 2.8 Miles or 4.5 km. The estimated walking time is 1 hour, one way. Please bring water, hat, sunscreen, and for the August and September months mosquitoes repellent is a must. Enjoy the view and the hunt!
This cache has all the ingredients to be one of the most excited routes for mountain bike enthusiasts. The trail has steep slopes, that means greats up / downhills, on compacted soil, sandy areas, gravel and fossil marine rocks. If you want to have a great hike / ride then this cache is recommended for you! Come and have the benefit of the beautiful landscapes in this side of the island!
The trail head is located at: N17 56.623 W66 56.813, on the route PR-325 that goes to Playa Santa, is the same one that go to cache Mangle Grande. To go to Punta Brea, take the trail to the left at N17 56.150 W66 56.445. Continue the route all along the coast, the GZ area is just at the end of the trail. This cache is not recommended for kids. This area is very hot, sunny and dry and the trail has extreme slopes. The recommended hours for this ride is very early or late at the day, try to avoid mid day sunny hours. You are looking for a regular plastic container with a red line in its lid. Consider that the route has single trails sections and it is not recommended to 4x4 vehicles. Enjoy the adventure!
