Geocache Description:

Located North of Dorchester and also known as Chambers Cemetery and Rockport Cemetery, Mormon Grove Cemetery is located off of old Dorchester Road near the intersection of Old Dorchester Road and Ford Road.

Mormon Grove was named for the campsite of a group of "Mormons" who had separated from the main church in Illinois. The body of the main church continued on from Illinois to settle in Utah. Many other groups formed and drifted elsewhere, they were excommunicated from the main church and formed their own churches.
One such group was lead by Lyman Wight and came into Grayson County in the Fall of 1845 and wintered in this "Mormon" grove spending ten months in Grayson County. From here they moved southwest into the Texas Hill Country. Thus Lyman Wight a Pioneer in the Mormon Church became a Texas Pioneer.

Mormons Grove is inside the fence and is not enclosed or accessible. Sadly the Cemetery is in very bad shape and many stones are broken or missing and cows freely roam amongst the headstones. The Cemetery is on PRIVATE PROPERTY!

You Do Not need to enter the Cemetery to obtain the Cache. There is No need to cross the fence. Once you get here the cache location will be pretty obvious but I thought the unique history of the location deserved a cache. Container is a small LocknLock.
