Geocache Description:

Alton Road and indeed the property "Alton" are steeped in history and one of the very significant properties of this area. Alton road is one of my favourites, winding it's way ultimately up to the summit of Mount Macedon. This is the alternate way that many locals aren't aware of. When the main road to the top is shut due to snow this is the way you get up.. A favourite is the section of road up near the top, close to the actual proerty alton, reminds me very much of an ol' english country lane.

There is a lot of information about the property and it's history here : (visit link)

The listed co-ords should bring you to a property down near the beginning of Alton road. Look for a letterbox, number 49. Above that there are some words, the name of the property. A = the number of letters in the first word. B = the number of letters in the second word.

Now, proceed to WPT1 - at s37 23.1(A-4)B e144 35.0(A+2)(Bx2)

Careful, kids at play! - WPT1 is really what coming here is all about so take a moment to appreciate the area there, it's pretty nice just up the road a little, with some quant small cottages etc on the right side of the road as you go uphill.

At WPT1 there was no where easy to hide an Ammo can as I wanted.. so a trip a little further up the hill to a more secluded location for GZ.

At WPT1 you should notice a driveway for the property in question and as you look at that just to your left there is a sign post with the roadside numbers for postal delivery/ambulance etc. Those numbers constitute the values CDE.

GZ for the cache is @ s37 22.8(E-D)4 e144 35.0(E-C)0

You're looking for an Ammo can.. hidden in a pretty usual kind of manner. perhaps the largest Ammo can you'll ever see..

We hope you enjoy the drive up Alton road and a nice cache at the end.

Note : You can easily do this in a standard 2WD car, even in the wet this road is quite ok.
