There are old houses and buildings along this section of Bunroku Tsutsumi Street, a part of old Kyokaido Road.
Bunroku Tsutsumi was constructed along the Yodogawa River in 1596 by Toyotomi Hideyoshi to facilitate the fastest transport between his two castles, Osaka-jo and Fushimi-jo.
You may wonder why the Bunroku Tsutsumi Street is running at somewhat higher level. This is because the stree used to be on the river bank of the Yodogawa River 400 years ago although the river has now been rerouted all the way up to the north.
Today, only 600m section of the Genroku Tstumi is preserved and maintained in Moriguchi City as a historic monument. Stroll on the street to discover old Japan 400 years ago.
