This is part of a series of 24 caches which are placed on a circular walk around The Creetings via footpaths, country lanes and the remnants of ancient Suffolk green lanes which were formerly used as highways, but are now footpaths. The final cache #24 is a bonus with the co-ordinates available in the series numbers #22 and #23.
#13 Dunches Lane
The unmade lane joining Low Lane at this point climbs the hill up to Creeting St. Mary. Little is known of this ancient byway, but there are references to Thomas Dunch rector of the now demolished Creeting All Saints Church in 1427 and to this day there survives Dunches Charity, formerly used to buy coal for the poor, now distributed to senior citizens in the parish.
