Basildon railway station was opened in 1974. The Station is managed by and all train services are operated by c2c. It is situated between
Laindon railway station and Pitsea railway station and located 24.17 mi (38.90 km) by rail from Fenchurch Street.
The ticket office has three serving positions and is open Monday - Friday 05.15 - 22.00, Saturday and Sunday 06.15 - 21.30. The ticket hall houses a retail unit as well as a Scheidt & Bachmann Self Service Ticket Machine and a Shere FASTticket Machine. A cash machine is also sited in the ticket hall.
The station has two platforms. Both are located on the upper level, they can be reached by a fixed staircase or by a lift.
Basildon station is served solely by London, Tilbury and Southend Line trains heading inbound to Fenchurch Street railway station in central London and outbound to Shoeburyness in eastern Essex. Inbound trains operate about every 15 minutes during off-peak hours and supplemented with trains running up to five minutes apart during peak hours.[
