Geocache Description:

No, really. Don't drink the water. A prime opportunity for some serious CITO.

I really love the drive along Highway 4 in San Joaquin County, not necessarily because the views are anything special, but because I like the winding, wavy way in which it's laid out. I discovered the route in 2008, exploring the Delta and other spots around the "Tri-County Area." This is where I found my favorite street sign ever, for Bacon Island Rd., and close by Tracy Blvd., along which I stopped and got some extremely fresh asparagus. It's also where I pulled over in the middle of the night and reported a roadside brush fire, of which I also took a lot of photos.

This spot along Trapper Slough caught my eye one day as I sped past, so I stopped on my way back home to peruse and shoot some pics.

It's a dump. Almost literally. It appears that lots and lots of people use this place for illegal dumping of all sorts of items; carpeting, computers, water bottles, tangled fishing line, etc. litter the area. Despite all that, I still like the spot itself, especially the ramp that someone appears to have jury-rigged on the bank of the slough.

THE CACHE

This is a small plastic container that only has enough room for the log and v-e-r-y small items. I forced my favorite keychain ever into it for an FTF prize. Be especially careful when putting it back in place.

There is room for one vehicle to park, well back from the road if you don't mind a bit of a slog through a large puddle, a little dicier if you prefer your shoes to stay dry. Keep away from the shoulder line, as vehicles speed past especially fast.

As mentioned above, this is an ideal spot for CITO. Please please please collect a few items when you leave. If you're feeling industrious, bring your pickup truck and a couple friends!

Congratulations to geoscout9 and Biker Barbee on the co-FTF!
