Il nome Briga deriva da bricco, alpe, colle. Proprio su uno di questi colli che sovrasta l'abitato di Briga Novarese sorge la chiesa dedicata a San Colombano.

Accanto alla chiesa si possono visitare i ruderi dell'antico castello ed il monumento ai caduti.
Data la posizione sopraelevata. in giornate limpide si possono ammirare degli stupendi panorami che spaziano da uno scorcio del lago d'Orta sino ad abbracciare tutta la pianura in direzione sud.
L'accesso sino a pochi metri dalla cache può avvenire in auto tramite una stradina, sterrata solo per gli ultimi metri, che parte dal centro del paese.
Attenzione: alcune vie del comune sono a traffico limitato. Non è necessario entrare in queste aree ma semplicemente seguire le indicazioni "San Colombano".
Arrivati alla sommità del colle troverete anche un'area attrezzata con tavoli e panche per il ristoro del geocacher!

The name Briga derives from, alpe, hill. On one of these hills overlooking the village of Briga Novarese is the church dedicated to St. Colombano. Its date is placed in the last decades of the sixteenth century and some interesting historical details related to the construction of the church are available at the Briga web site on the following

Beside the church you can visit the ruins of the ancient castle and a war memorial.
Thanks to the elevated position, on a clear day you can admire the stunning landscapes ranging from Orta Lake to embrace the whole plain to the south.
Access up to a few meters from the cache can be done by car through a narrow paved road starting from the center of the town. There are only few meters of unpaved road.
Warning: some streets of the town are traffic limited. It is not necessary to enter these areas, but simply follow the signs for "S. Colombano".
Arrived at the top of the hill you will find a picnic area with tables and benches for the refreshment of geocachers!
