Looking a gift snake in the mouth Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

CraigsOutside: Sad to see this one go. I'm pretty sure that it's there. Just buried under a whole lot of decomposed granite and dead shrubs from the push back after a recent mudslide. I looked around for a suitable location to move and plant a replacement but found nothing close that was satisfactory enough to bring people out to.

Geocache Description:

This container was received as a gift, as reward for surviving a rattlesnake bite. Thank you lovesreward and esquimaux.

Out hiking the fire trail (Palmer Evey Mtwy) to Potato Mountain again with Sheila and Gromit and a friend, and thought that the trail needed more geocaches. (There are plenty of places to hide caches along this trail, so bring one or two with you!) Not too difficult of a hike from Mt. Baldy Rd (less than a mile) but a long, uphill hike if you start from the parking lot at the Claremont Wilderness Trail. Plenty of parking off Mt. Baldy Road and no adventure pass needed; the forest recreation area doesn't start for another hundred yards up the road. I've seen deer, tarantulas, and coyote near here and of course, Gromit has found ticks. There is a stream that attracts wildlife near the road, so bring your camera just in case. The cache is hidden just off the trail. Satellite reception may be sketchy due the the trees and terrain. I had decent reception with 15' accuracy when making the hide.

The container begins with only a log sheet in a ziploc, a jingle bell, and an English penny. Be sure to bring a writing implement of your choice.

As always, please be aware of your surroundings when visiting any wilderness area, for your safety and that of the creatures you might come across. Please practice CITO as other visitors may not be as mindful of the environment as you are.

I do take pride in all of my hides. If there are any issues with this cache or it is in need of maintenance, please do let me know. When logging your find, please do not use stickers out of consideration for others; they simply take up too much space and make log sheets difficult to fold or roll up. Please hide the container at least as well as you found it.

Congrats to Indiana "maddmaxxawr" Jones on making it out of the mountains alive with tarantulas on his back an FTF in his pocket!
