Along the west side of the Columbia, south west of the town of
Chelan Falls. 1.3 mile hike or bike from potential parking area.
(Ok, I will fess up, there is a road that takes
you very close, I was not sure of road ownership/trespassing
issues, just follow gps straight ahead instead of turning across
tracks) You do not need to enter the tunnel to retrieve the
cache, it is several hundred feet away from the tunnel.
This cache is located near the only tunnel on the Cascade &
Columbia River Railroad.

This railroad line was built in 1914, extending 137 miles from
Wenatchee to Oroville. It was originally built to link the Great
Northern main line in Wenatchee with the Washington & Great
Northern/Vancouver, Victoria & Eastern (Canada) line at
Oroville. The "related web site" takes you to a page which features
a bunch of motorcar/speeder/putt-putt hobbyists who traveled this
line in 1998. Their description of the trip is fun to read. This
rail line is still in service, carrying mainly limestone, wood
chips and lumber. While approaching the cache site watch for
Bighorn sheep, eagles, beavers, otters, and of course the Lake
Entiat Serpent. There is a decent fire trail leading up the hill
past the cache, nice view hike if one were so inclined. Easiest
access to cache is to go past the one larger tree and hang a right.
Light at the end of the tunnel.
