I can't find any recent responses from the Cache Owner about maintaining this cache which makes it appear the Cache Owner is either unwilling or unable to maintain the cache. Cache maintenance includes listing maintenance including updating any changes to the text, updating coordinates, removing needs maintenance attributes and enabling the listing. The cache will be archived and removed from the active cache listings.

Geocache Description:

This cache is dedicated to our long-time friends in Springer, who can, quite literally, see the Tooth of Time from their house. Every time we are in their home we are reminded of the magnificent view they enjoy.

The Tooth of Time is an igneous intrusion of dacite porphyry formed in the Tertiary period of the Cenozoic era some 22 to 40 million years ago. Once a prominent landmark along the Santa Fe Trail, the Tooth rises to an elevation of 9,003 feet adjacent to the plains south of Cimarron. Located on Philmont Scout Ranch, the Tooth of Time is now the signature landmark of the 214-square-mile ranch.

This cache is located about as close to the Tooth as one may travel along Highway 21 between Cimarron and Springer. Safe parking is within 100 feet of the cache. You are looking for a small magnetic container; BYOP.


The Tooth of Time is only accessible to registered participants of Philmont programs.
