Geocache Description:

Adoption note: This cache was originally placed by FSUDad, one of the best cache hiders Central Florida has ever seen. I had the privilege of finding this one years ago during a CITO event he held on this property, my first CITO and caching event ever. Since he's moving out of the area, I've adopted this listing to keep it alive. The below description is how he originally wrote it. Cache on!

You are searching for a regular sized container hidden along the one of the hiking trails at the 1,173-acre Marshall Hampton Reserve, which was purchased by the Southwest Florida Water Management District in 2008. The former ranch was bought in connection with a project that will modify the Lake Hancock water level and is managed by Polk County Environmental Lands. There is no access to Lake Hancock on the property.

Some of the wildlife seen on the site include fox squirrels, wild turkeys, bobcats, coyotes and foxes, in addition to a variety of species of birds.

The trails are all unpaved and muddy in some low spots during the rainy season. Don't forget to bring water.

There is a lot of tree cover so it may affect your GPS readings so just look around, it is a .50 cal ammo can just sitting in the woods. Have fun!

Please sign in at the information board in the parking lot near the trailhead, and note that you're there to geocache. Polk County's Environmental Lands Program is receptive to caching. Signing in shows that you appreciate this. Please be respectful of this property, its vegetation & wildlife. Make sure you grab a map of the area at the trailhead. Minor bushwhacking may be required at the cache site, please stay on designated trails until you reach the search area.
