One of our most memorable early caching experiences was solving and finding kiwimonster's Watershed Moment (GCBF8B). It has become known in family lore as "The Prickly Cache." Sadly, shortly after we found the cache, it was archived. We have had quite a few great caching adventures since then, but none sticks in the memory quite as much as that one. In early 2009, we caught a mole in the middle of excavation activities in our yard. The kids pled with us to relocate the thing rather than exterminating it, and when we asked where, they immediately suggested the Prickly Cache area. So we added a mole to the spot's creature population.
I was back in the area again not long ago and retraced a few of our steps. Yes, it is still fairly prickly! As I was ducking berry canes and dodging puddles, I saw a piece of paper out of the corner of my eye. It looked like a page torn from someone's research notes. The writing was messy and the paper was a bit splattered, but after taking it home I was able to transcribe the note into something a bit more legible.
I did a bit of research and something definitely was not right. It was as if this paper had been transported from another continent! Perhaps there is more to this note than a surface reading might yield...
