Rathjen’s Gap is a rocky outcrop in the foothills near Palmer. We were told about it by the publican when we dropped into the hotel for a beer, after a VERY warm morning of caching (41°C).
It is believed the local aboriginal tribes used this as a lookout for neighbouring tribes passing through or trading.
Be sure to park some distance away, where heavy traffic is able to pass your vehicle, as this is a major access road for several farm properties.
