Renoville, California, was a small stop built around a store on what became California Highway 127 between Baker and Shoshone. Built near Silurian Dry Lake, the town had a long enough tenure to appear as a place-name on USGS topographic maps. Reading in a book called "Pilgrims in the desert" History of east Mojave. A Charlie Reno who worked on the telegraph lines along the T&T Railroad lived here. He put up a building and started selling beer and supplies. Later came gas pumps but they say he never sold much gas.

In the book there are accounts that say he married a school teacher from Shoshone. While old Charlie was away working she would run the place. Upon his return once he found his wife with another man that she had been having an affair with. Story goes this man pulled his pistol on charlie and took his wife and his store! Reading more USGS puts the location of renoville here on west side of road but accounts of people who were there put in down the Valjean road a little on the east side of HWY 127.
