Geocache Description:

I have been wanting to hike Rooster Mtn. for awhile and what better time to do it and place a cache than now to celebrate the reopening of Road 56.

Rooster Mtn. sits deep in the Mt. Baker Snoqualmie National Forest a short distance past the Taylor River Campground. Cache is about half way up from the 1,200 ft trailhead to the 5,340 ft summit.

Rooster Mtn. has one of the best viewing angles I have ever seen of Garfield Mtn. If you go up for the cache look to the S.E. at Garfield and you'll see what I mean.

Cache container is a 30 cal ammo can, in a very easy hide. I put the terrain at 3 1/2 due to the final few feet to the hide and the slight chance of rolling down hill. I would suggest having small ones wait on the trail.

Getting there
From North Bend drive I-90 east and get off at Exit 34 and turn left. Drive past the cluster of convenience stores and restaurants, turn right on Middle Fork Snoqualmie River Road No. 56, cross the Taylor River bridge at 15.5 miles, shortly beyond the road splits stay straight (left) and drive about a half mile to the road-end and parking at the Snoqualmie Lake trailhead, elevation 1,200 feet.

This is an official MidMountain Mountaineers cache. We are a loose collection of hikers/cachers who think the journey is more important than the summit. Enjoy our caches about half way up!
