Geocache Description:

This cache is now a 2 part Multi-Cache instead of a 3 part Multi. If you did the original math, you may have trouble locating the cache. Please contact us if you have questions. We want to see "Smiley" faces!

Waypoint One: You must go to the cache coordinates to find the beginning point. From these coords you should be able to look west and see a number closely associated with the name of this cache. Now that you know you are in the correct spot, you will see a sign post that has two sets of numbers you will need to utilize to locate Waypoint Two
To find Waypoint Two: Here’s the math: Look up at the two numbers that are on a sign at the posted coords. Now, add 5690 to the N/S directional number and you will get the last four digits (A.AAA) of the N Coordinate number (N33 4A.AAA)…then add 3296 to the 4 digit E/W directional number and you will get the last four digits (B.BBB) of the W coordinate number (W118 0B.BBB). These new coordinates should give you a fairly close walk to Waypoint Two.

This is a pretty busy place, so be cautious of muggles and use stealth when you are being watched…

Enjoy and Good Luck!

FTF # 17 is placed as a tribute to the Long Beach Search and Rescue Unit and to the men and women of Fire Station #17.

A little history. During the past 45 years, the members of the Long Beach Search & Rescue Unit have volunteered over 733,256 hours of community service (as of September 2009). The Long Beach Search and Rescue Unit, established in 1962, is a Specialist Explorer Post of the Long Beach Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Specializing in urban heavy rescue, the organization encourages explorers to look to career possibilities in the law enforcement, fire protection, and emergency medical service fields.
The training facility is located adjacent to the Long Beach Fire Department Training Center and behind Fire Station 17 at Stearns Park.
We wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of those who serve us so unselfishly.

ABOUT THE FTF CURSE
This is a cursed cache for all First to Finder's out there. If you are the FTF for a cache in this series, you are cursed with the obligation to place another "LBC/Lakewood/W of the 605 cities Cursed of the FTF" cache and therefore extend the series. Since we were FTF on #16 in the series we are getting this cache placed before we are cursed forever.Guidelines for this series are listed below:
1. FTF'er should place the next cache in the series (LBC/Lakewood/W of the 605 cities Curse of the FTF #17) within 1 month. Otherwise the curse will prevent you from ever getting another FTF again!!! Muahahahaha!!
2. You can only be a FTF for this series once. This is to give others a chance to be a FTF'er.
3. Cache can be any type of cache (Puzzle, Multi, Traditional, Letterbox Hybrid, etc.).

Now you know. Are you willing to add your name to the list? There is no requirement besides the standard signing of the cache log to prevent you from logging this cache when found. Everyone should log their find, and hopefully the FTF person will play along and place another cache, but it is in no way a requirement for logging your find.

Since we were the FTF for #16 of this series, we very much needed to hide one in the LBC/Lakewood area even though we have already risked the curse of never finding another FTF by placing this cache after the one month deadline. We believe that being born on Friday the 13th may have had some degree of influence on our being tardy in posting this (being born cursed and all). We hope the “better late than never” rule will apply if we apologize enough. So, we are terribly sorry for the delay…

Congrats to I C IT for the FTF!

Make sure to put out a cache to avoid the curse! Enjoy!
