"Out of the dirt and the dust and the grime,
They squint as the bright sun blesses their skin,
And thank the Lord for a second chance."
excerpt from "Built from Coal" by Anne Marie Boudreau
This area was first settled by mostly Lowland Scots and originally called Acadia Village.
Coal was discovered in 1864 and The Acadia Mine opened here in 1866. Acadia Village was subsequently renamed Westville.
Take some time while here to notice more of the history depicted on the many information signs. If you did not find the cache at first, you may not have taken enough notice.
This was our first cache.
Remember it's a "nano" so BYOP !
