myotis: GI Joe offered to check on and replace the cache if it is not there. I offered him the option of taking over the site. He accepted and is going to set up another cache in this area this weekend. I look forward to finding it. So I am now archiving this cache. It has been a fun one. I set up many caches down here when no one else had any. I am happy to see many others are setting them up in the Shawnee.

This cache is in the Garden of the Gods recreational area in Shawnee National Forest. Garden of the Gods Wilderness is on three sides of the area. This is the most known landmark in Southern Illinois and is a very beautiful spot. I have a picture I took of the area below. It is sandstone outcrops with forest (Wilderness) all around it. It is along a stone trail on about a 1-mile loop trail.

This is a mico cache about twice as big as a film canister. It only has a micro log in it. Bring your own pen and write small.
